Jewellery : Wearable Glass

In early 2017 John took part in collaborative project at The National Glass Centre in Sunderland, in association with Ruthin Craft Centre. Eight jewellers were paired with four resident artists to produce jewellery made from glass.  John had the pleasure of working with James Maskrey, highly respected for his mastery of hot glass.  John explored how a simple vortex shape could occupy the spaces around the body. Together they created two dramatic necklaces and a series of bangles and brooches, which became part of a touring exhibition.

The large, blue collar was acquired by The National Glass Centre for the permanent collection and the image above was featured in The New Glass Review 2018, published by The Corning Museum of Glass.
