Flight - Care Instructions

  • Flight pieces are very robust but always treat your jewellery with care and store it safely when you're not wearing it, preferably in a box
  • Apply skin cream, makeup and perfume before putting on your jewellery.  Chemicals in these products could affect the surface finish
  • Take your jewellery off to go to sleep

"Will the colour come off?" - No

This is a common question and the answer is No because rather than coating the metal like paint, the dye is actually absorbed into the transparent oxide, a bit like a tattoo on skin.  It is very tough, in fact the anodising process was developed to harden and protect the metal which is why Apple devices are often made from anodised aluminium.  With enough force a harder material could scratch through the colour to reveal the bright aluminium beneath but with proper care this is very unlikely.

"I accidentally put my brooch through the wash!"  Don't worry, I've done this plenty of times and they survive unscathed.

General dirt including skin cream or makeup can be removed with a cotton bud or tooth brush in warm soapy water.  Rinse and then gently wipe with a dry cloth.

The small silver stitches found on drop earrings and brooches may become tarnished, if so give them a gentle rub with a silver cloth - sold at most supermarkets and hardware stores.
