Lacewing Video

A collaboration with filmmaker Matt West and dancer Louis McMiller

John and Matt first discussed a collaboration back in 2017 but John wanted to wait until he had a piece of work that he considered special enough and worthy of the treatment. The idea was shelved. Some time later, during a photoshoot with Chris Bulezuik, John saw his latest creation, Lacewing, glistening like mercury on the model’s skin. If ever a piece needed recording on film, this was it.

John was keen to use a male dancer and through Jenna Lee, his previous collaborator, was introduced to Louis McMiller, a graduate of The Royal Ballet School and former dancer for Studio Wayne McGregor.
